Why Go Veggie

Vegetarianism

When a person's diet excludes poultry , meat,  seafood and all animal byproducts, he or she is considered a vegetarian. However many vegetarians will include dairy products like milk and cheese, eggs and honey in their diet. In contrast, vegans will exclude all animal products from their diet.

People become vegetarian for a number of reasons. In many Asian countries like India, where a large part of  the population is vegetarian, religious beliefs play a major roles. Some religions like Jainism prohibit followers from harming any living creature.

In contrast, in North America and Europe, only a small percentage of  the population is vegetarian. They have usually become vegetarian because of their personal beliefs and health benefits of  vegetarianism. Though the number of  vegetarians is increasing in recent years, most vegetarians find it difficult to find suitable food in these countries .
